CORE COMPETENCY RM TECHNICAL SKILLS: A 2015 URMIA survey showed that only a third of the respondents specifically look for emerging risks in their risk assessments. But these risks may present real threats to the goals and mission of the university. This session will discuss how risk managers can evaluate emerging risk using artificial intelligence (AI) as a specific example. AI may change the way universities teach and how they conduct business. AI may also impact the demand for university education as AI replaces people in certain occupations, but it may also increase demand for graduates educated in AI.

As a result of participating in this session, attendees will: appreciate the importance of considering emerging risks in risk assessments and how it can be done, learn what artificial intelligence is, where is it found today and where might it be in the next 10 years, and understand the upside and downside risks of AI using autonomous driving vehicles and other examples.
